In preparation for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has taken another major step by initiating the formation of a "Strike Force" aimed at enhancing Pakistan’s T20 side.
According to PCB sources, the Strike Force will comprise 100 young hard-hitting batters, with the selection process overseen by former all-rounder Abdul Razzaq.
The initiative will focus on identifying talented players from across the country. Over the span of a year, 100 skilled young batters will be selected. The program will be conducted in two six-month phases, with 50 batters scouted in each phase. These players will be trained to hit big sixes and boundaries effectively.
The primary goal of the Strike Force is to inject fresh talent into the T20 squad. Within a year, the identified players will be trained and prepared to join the national T20 side.
The ultimate objective of this initiative is to build a strong squad for the 2026 T20 World Cup. This step comes in the wake of Pakistan’s disappointing performance in the recent World Cup, where the team was eliminated in the first round.
