Moin backs Pakistan to clinch 2019 World Cup trophy

Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Moin Khan has backed Pakistan to win the 2019 International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup in England and Wales.

The prestigious ICC World Cup trophy arrived in Karachi as part of its trophy tour and speaking to media on this occasion Moin threw weight behind Sarfraz Ahmed-led Pakistan to clinch the title.

“Sarfraz is a wonderful player and a good leader,” he said. “I think Pakistan really has a good chance to clinch the title as conditions will be helpful for them in England.”

Moin also stressed on the importance of Sarfraz leading from the front on the field.

“He [Sarfraz] has to perform well in the upcoming World Cup. His performance in the tournament will be crucial for the team,” said the 47-year-old.

Former Pakistan captain Moin also recalled memories from Pakistan’s triumphant 1992 World Cup campaign and the inspirational leadership of Imran Khan.

“It is an honour for me to be present here and it reminds me of some old memories,” he said.  “We won the World Cup 1992 under the leadership of Imran Khan. We had only three or four points on the board after playing two to three matches. But we went on to win the tournament due to his leadership skills.”
