Multan Sultans unbeaten run continues in HBL PSL

Multan Sultans continued its unbeaten run in HBL PSL 7 stretching its winning streak to eight matches without having the taste of defeat.

The defending champions last suffered a loss on June 19th 2021 at Shaikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi against Islamabad United where the two-time champions won by four wickets with two balls remaining.

Multan Sultans haven’t looked back ever since then they thrashed Islamabad United in the play-offs two days later by 31 runs and lifted their first-ever trophy by defeating champions of 2017 Peshawar Zalmi by 47 runs. The Sultans continued its dream run from last season, winning six out of six matches this season defeating every team in the tournament.

The Sultans became the sixth team to enter HBL PSL in the third season and were unable to reach the playoffs in their first two seasons in 2018 and 2019 and finished fifth. Their performance improved in the next season and they finished third place in 2020 but ever since then they have turned into an unbreakable force by lifting the trophy in 2021.

The transformation of the Sultans can be credited to the wonderful leadership of Muhammad Rizwan and has a very calm, composed and friendly way of marshalling his troops. He is often seen smiling and having fun in the field even during the most tensed situations of the match.

The other reason for Multan’s success is the consistency of their players where the team combination is settled and each player knows his defined role and most importantly every individual is consistently performing and winning matches for the team.

Multan will face Lahore Qalandars today, the only team who haven’t won HBL PSL Trophy yet but seems very promising this season. The big question remains can The Qalandars end the unbeaten run of the Sultans in Infront of their home crowd or will Rizwan and his men continue their dream run.
