The Habib Bank Limited (HBL) Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises have fulfilled their financial obligations. Islamabad United has submitted a bank guarantee while four other teams have submitted checks to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) before the allotted time.
However, there is no news on the status of Multan Sultans franchise. On the other hand, PCB officials have refrained from commenting on the issue.
According to sources, the main issue between the PCB and the PSL franchises was of bank guarantees. According to the rules, all franchises were expected to submit bank guarantees six months before an edition of the PSL. However, franchise owners were not completely behind the rule.

A governing council meeting brought an end to the deadlock between the PCB and the franchises. The board allowed for checks with a later date to be submitted, instead of bank guarantees. The franchises were given a deadline of October 10 for the submissions.
Franchise owners Nadeem Omar (Quetta Gladiators), Javed Afridi (Peshawar Zalmi), Salman Iqbal (Karachi Kings), Sameen Rana (Lahore Qalandars) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Shoaib Naveed (Islamabad United) confirmed that they had fulfilled their financial obligations when contacted by an Express representative.
However, no news could be obtained about the status of the Multan Sultans franchise. Franchise owner Ali Tareen, when contacted by an Express representative, claimed that he was overseeing the players department and did not know the specifics of the payment of fees. General Manager (GM) of Multan Sultans Haider Azhar did not receive the call from the representative.
