When the new regime at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) took charge, they had claimed to focus on cost cutting. However, the reality is completely different as the board continues to spend extravagantly on foreign tours.
In his eight-month tenure, the board’s Chief Executive Wasim Khan has already completed eight foreign tours, with three to four trips to his native country England.
Now the CEO will be travelling to Australia, along with two other board officials, during the Men in Green’s tour Down Under.

Wasim will leave for Australia on November 13 and will stay there for two weeks during the Test series. Prior to him, PCB’s Director International Cricket Operations Zakir Khan and Director Security & Anti-Corruption Asif Mahmood will travel and stay in Australia during the three-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series. It is interesting to note that a security manager is already travelling with the Men in Green.
Taking into account the expenses on business class flights, five-star hotel accommodation and daily allowances, the tour of the three officials is likely to cost the board more than PKR 5,000,000.
On being contacted, the board representative confirmed the scheduled trip of these officials and also said that the entire expenditure of the visit will be borne by the board.

The board representative further said that the PCB CEO will be holding important meetings with Cricket Australia (CA) representatives.
Wasim is likely to brief the CA officials about their plan regarding Australia’s scheduled tour to Pakistan in 2021. Similarly, Zakir Khan is also expected to take part in important meetings and Asif Mahmood will discuss the security arrangements with the CA officials.
