Reports have emerged suggesting that the wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Rizwan may be in line to become the next captain of the Pakistan white-ball cricket team following Babar Azam's recent resignation.

However, insiders close to Rizwan have stated that no official discussions regarding the captaincy have taken place with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as of yet.

Sources indicate that there has been no consultation with the opening batter concerning selection matters, and he has not been invited to any team management meetings related to the T20 World Cup or the Bangladesh Test series. This lack of communication raises questions about the decision-making process within the PCB regarding the leadership transition.

If an offer for captaincy is extended to Rizwan, he is expected to approach the situation thoughtfully. According to these close sources, he intends to express his concerns about the treatment of previous captains before making any decisions. 

Babar Azam announced his resignation from the captaincy of the Pakistan men's white-ball team on Tuesday night, a decision that has been formally accepted by the PCB.
