Oman has revealed its squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup, with Ilyas named as the captain. Former skipper Zeeshan Maqsood retains his place in the team.
Ilyas, who stepped in for Sultan Ahmed during Oman's T20 World Cup debut in 2016 and led the team in the 2021 edition co-hosted with the UAE, will lead the squad.
Most of the players from the squad that reached the final of the recent ACC Premier Cup are included, with eight members from the 2021 T20 World Cup team returning for the 2024 campaign.
The bowling attack will be led by Bilal Khan, known for his left-arm yorkers, supported by Kaleemullah, Fayyaz Butt, and Shakeel Ahmad. Shakeel, a newcomer to the team, adds to Oman's spin options alongside all-rounders Aqib and Zeeshan.
In batting, Kashyap Prajapati and Naseem Khushi are expected to bat at No.3 and No.4, followed by wicket-keeper Pratik Athavale and Ayaan Khan lower in the order. Notably, Jatinder Singh and Samay Shrivastav did not make it to the squad.
