PAK vs AUS: Mohammad Rizwan, Haris Rauf open up after historic second ODI win against Australia in Adelaide

Pakistan's white-ball captain Mohammad Rizwan and pacer Haris Rauf expressed their delight after Pakistan's historic nine-wicket win over Australia in the second ODI at Adelaide Oval on Friday. The victory leveled the three-match series at 1-1, giving Pakistan a fresh lease of life heading into the decider in Perth.

In the post-match presentation, Rizwan shared his thoughts on the team's performance.

"Hopefully, we keep up this confidence going forward to Perth. A win is a win. We decided to bowl after winning the toss. Our bowlers bowled well, and we found success. Everyone is enjoying Haris Rauf's bowling, not only fans from Pakistan but also from all around the world," Rizwan said.

Haris Rauf, who was named Player of the Match for his remarkable fifer, added, "We are happy to win this game. We have fans everywhere in the world, and we are just trying to give them happiness. I have played a lot of games for the Melbourne Stars, so I knew these conditions." Rauf’s sensational bowling spell of 5 wickets for 29 runs in 8 overs restricted Australia to a mere 163 runs, leading Pakistan to a dominant win.

This win was a historic achievement for Pakistan, as it marked their first ODI victory at Adelaide Oval in 28 years. The last time they triumphed here was in 1996 under Wasim Akram’s leadership, with Saqlain Mushtaq playing a key role by taking 5 wickets.

Winning the toss, Pakistan chose to field, a decision that proved to be a masterstroke as their bowlers delivered a sensational performance. Haris Rauf spearheaded the attack with a blistering spell, claiming 5 wickets for just 29 runs in 8 overs, restricting Australia to a mere 163 runs. His spell was the highlight of a disciplined bowling display, with the rest of the Pakistani bowlers also contributing effectively.

Chasing a modest total, Pakistan's Saim Ayub put in a brilliant display with the bat, scoring 82 runs off 71 balls, including five boundaries and six sixes at a strike rate of 115.49. Abdullah Shafique, too, played his part with a composed knock of 69-ball 64 runs. Babar Azam then finished the match in style, hitting a powerful six to seal the win and bring the match to a thrilling conclusion.

The victory not only leveled the series but also gave Pakistan a significant morale boost as they head into the final ODI in Perth on November 10.
