PAK vs BAN: Shan Masood clears the air on alleged fight with Shaheen Afridi

Pakistan's Test skipper Shan Masood has dismissed rumors of a dressing room altercation with fast bowler Shaheen Afridi following the team's defeat in the first Test against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi.

The reports, which surfaced after Pakistan's 10-wicket loss, suggested that tensions flared between Masood and Afridi, leading to a confrontation.

According to the rumors, Masood and head coach Jason Gillespie were critical of the fast bowlers' performance, particularly Afridi's, which allegedly sparked the clash.

A video clip also went viral, showing Afridi removing Masood's hand from his shoulder, further fueling speculation of a fallout between the two players.

Addressing the issue, Masood clarified that there was no fight between him and Afridi. He explained that Afridi was experiencing pain in his shoulder, and his gesture was merely misunderstood.

"There was no fight with Shaheen Afridi. He was feeling pain in the shoulder, and unfortunately, I placed my hand on the same shoulder," Masood told reporters.

It is worth noting that the national team has endured a humiliating Test series defeat against Bangladesh, marking the first time the Bengal Tigers have achieved this historic feat.

After winning the first Test by chasing down a modest 30-run target without losing a wicket, Bangladesh continued their dominance by securing victory in the second Test, chasing 185 runs with four wickets down, completing a 2-0 clean sweep of the series.

This defeat has dashed Pakistan's hopes of reaching the World Test Championship 2023-25 final, as they now find themselves in eighth place on the WTC points table with 16 points and a win percentage of 19.05. Meanwhile, Bangladesh has significantly improved their position, climbing to fourth place with 33 points and a win percentage of 45.83.
