PAK vs ENG: Pakistan's spin duo matches record set by England in 1956

The Pakistan national cricket team has achieved a remarkable milestone in the second Test match against England, securing a decisive 152-run victory in Multan.

The spin bowling duo of Noman Ali and Sajid Khan made history by claiming all 20 wickets, leveling the series at 1-1 and marking Pakistan's first home victory in three years, much to the delight of cricket fans across the nation.

In 1902, the Australian duo of Hugh Trumble and Monty Noble established the record against England, followed by George Hirst and Colin Blythe replicating the achievement in 1909. South Africa's Bert Vogler and Aubrey Faulkner then took center stage in 1910, claiming all 20 English wickets.

Noman and Sajid etched their names into the record books as the first bowling pair for Pakistan since 1972 to claim all 20 wickets in a single Test match. Noman Ali shone brightly with an impressive 11-wicket haul, while Sajid Khan supported him admirably with 9 wickets, skillfully exploiting a pitch that heavily favored spin.

This historic achievement recalls the legendary Australian bowling duo of Dennis Lillee and Bob Massie, who achieved the same feat against England in 1972.

Noman and Sajid's performance also pays homage to England's iconic spin bowlers, Jim Laker and Tony Lock, who were the first to accomplish this milestone against Australia in 1956. Laker's outstanding figures of 10 and 9 wickets in the two innings showcased his dominance, while Lock contributed with one wicket.

Pakistan's rich cricketing history includes a notable victory over Australia in 1956, where spinners Fazal Mahmood and Khan Muhammad collectively claimed all 20 wickets. Mahmood stood out with 13 wickets, while Khan Muhammad contributed with 7.

Prior to this match, it had been over five decades since two spinners achieved the milestone of taking all 20 wickets in a Test match for Pakistan, underscoring the rarity of such a performance. This victory also marks only the seventh time in Test cricket history that spinners have collectively taken all 20 wickets of the opposing team, emphasizing the crucial role of spin bowling in the game.
