Opening batter Saim Ayub, who is undergoing treatment in London, has expressed his determination to recover quickly.
Speaking in London, Saim said, "I don’t know how long it will take for me to fully recover, but I am doing my best." He added that the doctors are also making every effort to ensure his recovery.
When asked about the high expectations of the team following his two centuries, Saim remarked, "No single player is crucial; winning requires the entire team to work together. I request the nation to pray for my complete and speedy recovery."
Earlier reports revealed that assistant coach Azhar Mahmood, who had accompanied Saim to London following his injury during the Cape Town Test, has now left for Multan, leaving the batter to continue his treatment alone.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had initially sent Azhar Mahmood to London to assist Saim Ayub after the batter sustained his injury.
Saim Ayub is currently recovering from a fractured right ankle sustained during the second Test against South Africa. While the PCB has not yet confirmed his participation in the upcoming Champions Trophy, his recovery is being closely monitored.
The young opener has been in exceptional form recently, showcasing his talent during international tours. Over the past two months, he has scored three ODI centuries and an unbeaten 98 in T20Is, earning him the Player of the Series title in Pakistan’s historic 3-0 ODI sweep against South Africa.
