Pakistan clinches victory over Australia in World Championship of Legends 2024

Pakistan Champions emerged victorious over Australia Champions by five wickets in a thrilling encounter at Edgbaston Cricket Stadium, Birmingham, during the World of Champions 2024. 

Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq showcased stellar performances, forging a crucial 90-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Despite a shaky start in their chase, Pakistan successfully chased down the target in the final over.

Pakistan initially struggled, losing early wickets of Sharjeel Khan (17) and Kamran Akmal (4). However, Sohaib Maqsood and Shoaib Malik injected momentum with aggressive innings before departing. 

The match turned in Pakistan's favor thanks to the stabilizing partnership between Misbah and Younis. Younis played a pivotal knock of 63 runs off 41 balls, while Misbah remained unbeaten on 46 off 30 balls. Shahid Afridi's quickfire 11* off 5 balls further bolstered Pakistan's chase.

For Australia, Brett Lee and Nathan Coulter-Nile claimed two wickets each, attempting to defend their total after posting 189-7 batting first. Shaun Marsh struggled with 16 off 20 balls, while Aaron Finch's explosive 68 off 40 balls set a strong foundation with nine fours and three sixes. 

Ben Dunk contributed 27 runs off 18 balls, and Callum Ferguson's unbeaten 26 off 16 balls further strengthened Australia's innings. Nathan Coulter-Nile added a quickfire 25 off 10 balls towards the end.

Shoaib Malik and Shahid Afridi were instrumental with the ball for Pakistan, each securing two wickets, proving pivotal in restricting Australia.

In earlier tournament action, India Champions secured a three-wicket victory over England Champions in the opening game.
