Pakistan cricketer Faisal Iqbal has slammed the Pakistan team and its captain Azhar Ali for fooling nation, after their embarrassing two-nil Test series defeat in Australia.
Iqbal, who has featured in 26 Tests and 18 One-day Internationals (ODIs) for Pakistan over the course of his career, was displeased with the statement given by Azhar upon arrival in Pakistan.
“We went there with positive intent but unfortunately sometimes results don't come as per your expectations," Azhar was quoted as saying in a tweet by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Responding to this, Iqbal urged the Pakistan skipper and his team to admit their mistakes and stop fooling the entire nation.
“You all went there as a bluff taking young uncapped and lack of experience bowlers to get 40 wickets!! Don’t make the nation fool, Try to accept mistakes which you ALL know will happen!!,” said Iqbal while quoting the aforementioned tweet.
It must be noted that Azhar, in a press conference at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Friday, stated that he was not afraid of losing the responsibility of captaining the side in the longer format.
