Pakistan domestic cricket set for major revamp

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is all set to make a major revamp in the domestic structure.

According to Daily Express — in this new setup — all the authority will be shifted to departments.

All departments will be asked to sponsor a regional team as well. Interestingly, they have already hired a huge number of cricketers and now they are being asked to sponsor a region too. They will also have the authority to hire coaches, managers and players. Director Domestic Cricket Haroon Rashid will present a presentation on Tuesday.

We have also learned that former Pakistan captain now Prime Minister — Imran Khan — is against the departmental cricket and the board is taking this step on his call.  However, the cricket regulatory authority’s plan of action does not seem like a solid one.

Furthermore the report suggested that the task force which is assigned to look after this process did not consult any region except from one specific city.

It must be noted that if PCB implements this setup, hundreds of cricketers are likely to be unemployed.
