Pakistan have a chance to improve their International Cricket Council (ICC) Test Ranking in the upcoming two-match series against Sri Lanka on home soil.

The home side, who are currently placed on eight position, will jump one place to seventh if they win or even draw the series against the Islanders. They will stay at the eight spot if they end up on the losing side.

Sri Lanka, on the other hand, will remain on sixth place even if they manage to complete a series sweep over their Asian rivals.

The first Test will be played at the Pindi Cricket Stadium from December 11-15, while the second Test will be held at the National Stadium from December 19-23.

Originally, Sri Lanka were scheduled to play Tests in October and then return in December for white-ball cricket, but the matches were swapped to provide them the opportunity to assess the security situation before deciding on the Test venues.
