Pakistan players improve ODI rankings

Pakistan players got a boost in their respective rankings after their performance in the ongoing 2019 International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup.

Prolific batsman Babar Azam has jumped to the third spot in the rankings with 827 points. Azam previously occupied the seventh spot, however his performance in the World Cup, where he scored 474 runs including three fifties and one century, helped him make substantial gains in the rankings.

Opener Imamul Haq, who scored a ton in final league match against Bangladesh, is now placed at 11 in the rankings for batsmen in one-day internationals (ODIs).

Left-handed batsman Haris Sohail was previously placed at number 56 in the rankings. His comeback in the team led to Pakistan’s late resurgence in the World Cup. 198 runs from five matches helped him climb up the rankings to number 36.

162 runs from five innings in the World Cup helped all-rounder Imad Wasim climb 17 spots in the ICC rankings for batsman. Wasim also retained the number four ranking for all-rounders in ODIs.

Left-handed fast-bowlers Mohammad Amir and Shaheen Shah Afridi climbed to number 12 and 23 respectively in the ICC bowlers rankings while leg-spinner Shadab Khan occupies the number 25 spot.

The Men in Green are at number six in the ICC ODI rankings with a total of 98 points.
