The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to announce the national Test squad for the upcoming series against the West Indies within the next couple of days.
Reportedly, the selection committee has already finalized the squad following extensive consultations, and the list will be made public after approval from PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
Sources indicate that Pakistan is likely to continue with a spin-heavy bowling strategy against the West Indies. One or two young batters are expected to be included in the squad, while the number of fast bowlers will remain limited.
Nauman Ali has already secured his place in the squad, with Sajid Khan and Abrar Ahmed set to make their comebacks. However, pacer Naseem Shah is expected to be rested, and there is little chance of Shaheen Shah Afridi’s return to the squad.
Meanwhile, Saim Ayub and Haseebullah have been ruled out due to injuries, but opener Imam-ul-Haq is likely to make a comeback.
The two-match Test series against the West Indies will commence in Multan, with the first Test scheduled to begin on January 17, followed by the second Test starting on January 25.
