Pakistan is gearing up to host their final set of ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25 matches at home, with West Indies set to arrive in Karachi on April 14 for eight white-ball matches.
The series will include three ODIs at the National Bank Stadium (NBS) in Karachi on April 18, 21, and 23, followed by five T20Is at the same venue scheduled for April 26, 28, 30, May 2, and 3. The ODIs will commence at 3:30pm PKT, while the T20Is will start at 7:30pm PKT.
Currently, Pakistan's women’s team holds the third position in the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25, securing 16 points from 18 matches, while West Indies ranks ninth with eight points from 12 outings. In the ICC Women’s T20I rankings, Pakistan holds the eighth position, with West Indies occupying the sixth spot.
This upcoming tour by the West Indies women’s team will mark their second visit to Pakistan since 2021, with their last tour to Karachi in November 2021 featuring three ODIs. Additionally, this series will be the fourth hosted at home by the Pakistan Cricket Board during the 2022-25 period, following visits by Sri Lanka, Ireland, and South Africa women’s cricket teams.
The series against West Indies holds significance for Pakistan as it marks the conclusion of their participation in the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25, with the team aiming to secure maximum points from the home matches to qualify directly for the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup.
Looking ahead, Pakistan is also preparing for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup later this year, and the five T20Is against West Indies will assist in finalizing the squad for the tournament. Head of Women’s Cricket Tania Mallick emphasized the importance of the series in developing relationships between cricketing nations and showcasing the team's determination and dedication on the international stage.
