The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is currently investigating a potential conflict of interest involving one of its officials after it was revealed that the official's company participated in a recent billboard advertising bidding process.
According to the details, the board issued an advertisement for prequalification in outdoor billboard advertising. Among the bids received, one was submitted by a company affiliated with an official from the PCB's HR department.
Upon discovering this, the PCB excluded the company from the bidding process and initiated an investigation into potential conflicts of interest and other allegations concerning the official. Additionally, a committee has been established to address these issues.
Initially, the official denied any connection with the company but later admitted his involvement. Notably, he was also a participant in most of the bid committees. Actions will be taken once the investigation into the official's conduct is concluded.
Some colleagues are reportedly working to shield him, but sources indicate that PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi is committed to transparency and will base any decisions on facts and merit. Should any wrongdoing be discovered, those responsible will face strict consequences.
Sources further revealed that a director previously removed from the board had accrued a significant amount by awarding contracts to his own companies. However, action against him was pursued in a separate case.
In recent investigations, a representative from "Cricket Pakistan" sought information from PCB but did not receive a response.
However, sources indicate that while the investigation is ongoing, the board will maintain its policy of not making any public comments.
