The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials have been using the 2019 International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup in England and Wales as a source for their leisure because several officials have reportedly wasted hundreds of thousands of rupees on the tour.
According to details, a few PCB officials arrived in England while being on holidays and also took unfair advantage of their positions. Among them, many were seen busy distributing tickets to their relatives and friends.
Pakistan team’s dismal performance during the ongoing World Cup has only left them with a slim chance to make it to the semi-finals of the event but the PCB officials seem least bothered about it.
Cricket boards all over the world try their best to take measures that would translate into better team performance, in such events, but the opposite happened as far as the PCB is concerned.
PCB Managing Director Wasim Khan, who hails from England and reportedly draws PKR 2 million in monthly salary, has also started following the lead of her predecessors. He has been residing in England for the past several days and is frequently seen in grounds as well. He has made multiple official tours since he assumed his PCB position, even though the board has claimed that he has not taken the full daily allowance but the figure still amounts in millions.
Similarly, PCB’s Director International Cricket Zakir Khan and Chief Selector Inzamamul Haq are also seen frequently on Pakistan’s foreign tours.
Critics say that while Prime Minister Imran Khan advocated austerity measures, he has turned a blind eye to the affairs of the PCB.
