With an eye on launching a full-fledged T10 League, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is considering hosting six exhibition games in Rawalpindi next month, featuring both men's and women's teams.
Adding international flavor to the mix, the English County club Middlesex is being courted for this potential partnership.
The PCB's interest in T10 isn't new. Recent statement from Zaka Ashraf, head of the PCB Management Committee, hinted at his desire to see the league launched during his tenure. Now, sources reveal concrete steps are being taken, with Rawalpindi earmarked as the potential host city.
The aim is to hold the matches after the national team's return from New Zealand, ensuring maximum player availability and fan engagement. This trial run also serves as a gauge of public interest in T10 cricket within Pakistan. The reception these matches receive will heavily influence future decisions regarding the league.
According to sources, several proposals, including exhibition matches, are currently under consideration. Zaka Ashraf is keen to leave his mark on Pakistani cricket with a successful T10 League. After initiating the PSL project during his previous term, which fell short of fruition at the time, he desires to see a similar league come to life under his leadership. Later, Najam Sethi took over and successfully organized the Pakistan Super League.
