The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has postponed the One-Day series between Pakistan Shaheens and Sri Lanka 'A' on Tuesday, just hours before the second match was scheduled to start.
The PCB, in a statement released today, explained that the decision was made in consultation with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), citing ongoing political activities in Pakistan’s federal capital, Islamabad, as the primary reason for the delay. The statement assured that the two cricket boards would work together to finalize new dates for the remaining matches of the series.
“The Pakistan Cricket Board, in consultation with Sri Lanka Cricket, has postponed the last two 50-over matches of the Pakistan Shaheens-Sri Lanka ‘A’ series due to a political activity in the federal capital,” the PCB shared.
“The last two white-ball matches were scheduled for Wednesday and Friday at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Both boards will collaborate to finalise new dates to complete the series,” the statement added.
This announcement comes as a surprise to fans and players alike, especially considering the Shaheens had dominated the opening match of the series, securing a commanding 108-run victory on Monday.
In addition to the ODI series, the two sides had previously competed in a two-match red-ball series, which Pakistan Shaheens won 1-0.
