PCB presents proposed schedule for remaining PSL 6 matches

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has chalked out proposed schedule for the remaining matches of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season six.

The PSL 6 was postponed on March 4, due to multiple Covid-19 cases among players and support staff, with 20 matches remaining. The PCB has already announced that Karachi will host the remainder of matches in the month of June.

According to sources, one option is to hold two matches every day while the other option includes solitary matches on weekdays and double-headers on Saturday and Sunday.

The date for the final of the event is likely to be June 20 but that could change as discussions between the PCB and franchises is still in progress.

Bearing in mind the hot weather, the double-headers are likely to begin at 4 and 9 pm, respectively. The timings for double-headers is a concern for some of the franchises, as the teams would return to the hotel after midnight. Also, for improved television ratings, there is also a suggestion to hold matches at prime timings.

One franchise also complained about their matches taking place during the day frequently.

Meanwhile, there was also a suggestion about holding the matches towards the end of May despite clash with the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Sources also revealed that the PCB wants its players to spend some time with their families, after the conclusion of PSL, which is why it wants to end the event on June 20. It must be noted that the tour of England will begin with the first ODI on July 8.

As far as quarantine of foreign players is concerned, the final decision will be taken by the company which will be hired for creating the bio-bubble. The time span for this could vary between seven to 10 days.

The search for hotel, where teams and everyone else involved with the league will stay, has already begun but this time the entire premises will be booked so that there is no interaction with the general public.
