PCB refuses to increase PSL franchises income share

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly refused to accept the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise owners demand to increase their share in income.

According to Daily Express, the PCB and PSL franchises owners chaired a meeting in Islamabad in order to resolve the financial issues.

The meeting — which was headed by PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani — was extremely tensed as a few owners threatened to part ways with the league if their demands are not met, a source from inside the board confirmed Cricket Pakistan.

Recently, the PCB signed a $14.30 million USD title sponsorship deal for the league. According to the agreement, both the board and franchises will share 50% amount.

According to sources, during the meeting, the franchises owners had kept on repeating the stance that they are facing financial loses and demanded to increase their share in title sponsorship, broadcasting rights and others modes of income.

Mani patiently listened to their concerns and assured to review the situation. The situation in the meeting became tensed when an owner boycotted the meeting and tried to walk away. However, Mani and other PSL owners intervened and tried to calm the situation down. The owner and officials also had some harsh exchange of words as well.

Furthermore, PCB asked the franchises to present their audit report in order to figure out the exact amount of loses. The board had a firm believe that not all the franchises are in loss. Moreover, the officials believed that they even had a profit from the first edition.

However, the franchises owners refused to present their audit reports. The franchises also had an issue with the PCB chairman for bringing bank guarantee issue on the media. They have asked Mani to avoid bringing matters to the public.

PCB is also set to open the tender for broadcasting rights and according to the agreement, the franchises will get 80% of the amount and the board will have the remaining share, which according to some franchises is not enough.
