PCB seeks experienced mentors for new Champions tournaments: report

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has initiated the search for experienced mentors to guide teams in the newly introduced Champions tournaments, marking a significant addition to the domestic cricket season.

For the first time, these tournaments will be held across all three formats—Champions One-Day Cup, Champions T20 Cup, and Champions First-Class Cup—as part of the Men’s Domestic Cricket Season 2024-25.

Key features of the newly introduced Champions tournaments include participation by five teams—Dolphins, Lions, Panthers, Stallions, and Wolves—in each event, contested in a double-league format.

Each team will be mentored by former star cricketers. The mentors will be tasked with implementing the PCB's comprehensive three-year plan, focusing on player development, strategic planning, team building, and providing leadership support.

According to media reports, the PCB has now begun the process of selecting these five mentors, who will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Pakistan cricket.

The PCB’s advertisement outlines the criteria for applicants, emphasizing the need for extensive experience as a professional cricket coach or player, along with a proven track record of mentoring players and coaching staff.

The advertisement further specifies that candidates must possess strong management skills, expertise in player development, and excellent communication abilities.

Interested individuals are encouraged to submit their applications by August 22, as the PCB looks to finalize the mentoring roles ahead of the upcoming domestic season.
