PCB set to appoint permanent security officer for national team

Former Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, after taking over as chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to bring a wave of changes in the board. However, amidst the antcipated changes, concerns loom over the fate of existing staff post-PSL.

Naqvi has brought several officers from the Punjab government to the board. Some of whom have been assigned responsibilities. Police Services' Irtiza Kumail is to be appointed Chief Security Officer. He may accompany the national cricket team on foreign tours.

Former Deputy Commissioner Jhang, Abdullah Khurram Niazi has started working as Director Domestic Cricket Operations and since he came on deputation, there was no need to advertise for the position.

Interestingly, when it was found that the room was not vacant, Niazi started sitting in the office of Director HR and Administration Abdul Faisal Malik. Upon learning this, Faisal returned from Rawalpindi to Lahore and provided him with another room. Nadeem Khan will now handle the responsibility of Director High Performance.

Moreover, there may be further changes in the coming days. COO Salman Naseer could be appointed as head of Pakistan Super League (PSL). There were reports that Pakistan Administrative Services Officer Lieutenant (R) Sohail Ashraf was to take over the position. But according to sources, Punjab government has not released him yet.  If there are changes in the constitution then CEO's appointment is also possible.

On the other hand, PCB employees are deeply concerned about their future. Internally it is circulating that a list of more than 100 officials has been prepared who will be sent home after the final of the PSL. However, sources close to the chairman say that there is no possibility of such a large number of staff layoffs. Only those people will be removed who do not work.
