The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB’s) Senior General Manager Academies Ali Zia has lost his position abruptly. A senior official had asked for clarification on a matter, but following a tense conversation Zia had no choice but to leave. The PCB even refrained from acknowledging his tremendous contributions in the press note issued on its official website.
The PCB had released a press note on Friday which mentioned the status of Zia. The note mentioned that Zia had served in the position for 12 years and has been in the PCB’s employment since 2004.

Astonishingly, the contributions of the senior official were not mentioned and neither was there a parting statement. Usually the contributions of every departing officials are mentioned.
According to sources, the former senior general manager was under the spotlight for a while now. A senior official in the PCB believed that he was close to Shakeel Shaikh, who was close with the old management. This is why an air of mistrust was created.
Earlier, PCB’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) Subhan Ahmed was also forced to relinquish his role. After Zia, many other officials might have to leave as well.
