The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Wasim Khan has opened up on facing criticism with regards to implementing changes within the country’s cricket.
Khan, who joined the PCB in February 2019, believes that people who can’t argue with the changes made resort to cheap shots such as personality attacks.
“We have changed the landscape of the PCB as compared to how things were run before. Inorder to change things, you have got to be bit of a disruptor and that can make you unpopular. People like status quo and when they can’t argue with the changes you have made, they turn to personality attacks because that’s their cheap shot,” said Khan while talking to PTV World.

He also brushed aside the notion that he was looking to leave the PCB in the near future.
“There have been a lot of rumours about exit strategy and all kinds of stuff. I’m firmly here as far as I’m concerned, unless I’m told otherwise by the people. I’m enjoying what I’m doing… you are going to have haters no matter what you do, whether it’s jealousy or envy,” he said.
Khan, who was awarded MBE in 2013, also urged people to come up with solutions rather than just criticising.
“Sitting outside and criticising is a very easy job. When you ask them for solutions, they look at you and say what? I can only give you problems. I always say no issues, I have always been open to new ideas and better ways to do things. I speak to a lot of ex-players to get their views about what they think is working and what isn’t working,” he said.
He also reiterated that all the recruitments, made within the PCB during his tenure, are based on merit.
“I have always recruited on merit. Some people will like the people I have recruited and some won’t but that there opinion and ultimately everybody is entitled to their opinion,” he said.
