Sri Lanka’s all-rounder Thisara Perera has finally opened up about deciding against touring Pakistan for the ongoing limited-overs series.
Perera’s name was among the ten cricketers mentioned in the list released by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), who backed out of the tour citing security concerns.
The all-rounder’s refusal came as a shock to Pakistan fans, since the 30-year-old had previously led the Sri Lankan team when they toured Lahore for a Twenty20 International (T20I) against Pakistan in 2017.

While replying to a fan’s criticism of preferring Caribbean Premier League (CPL) over national duty, the all-rounder clarified his stance over the matter.
“When I was in the Caribbean I got dengue mate. There was no way I could support anyone in any way. Still rested on Doctors advice. People speak without knowing anything,” tweeted Perera.
However, the all-rounder still played four matches in the ongoing CPL season before the SLC called back their players, including Perera, from the tournament to participate in a preparation camp for the Pakistan tour.
