Former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja has expressed his opinion regarding young fast bowler Hunain Shah, who happens to be the younger sibling of Naseem Shah.
Ramiz suggests that it would be beneficial for Hunain to play for a different franchise in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) rather than staying with Islamabad United, where all three Shah brothers - Naseem, Hunain, and Ubaid - are part of the PSL 9 squad.
During United’s clash against Karachi Kings on Thursday, Ramiz emphasized that playing for another franchise would allow Hunain to break free from the potential constraints of being in his brother's formidable presence.
"It's good for Hunain to play for another franchise as what happens is there is so much of spoonfeeding and because he [Naseem] is such a pillar to this family, a superstar to Pakistan cricket. You get suppressed in your approach towards the game," he said.
"You are frightened that you wouldn't be as good as your brother, it is better for him to feel absolutely relaxed and serve better without Naseem's shadow," he added.
Despite the concerns, Hunain has been delivering a commendable performance in PSL 9. In six matches, he has managed to secure an impressive tally of wickets with an economy rate of 8.63, demonstrating his potential as a promising fast bowler.
