Renowned Indian commentator Harsha Bhogle was happy to see Pakistan pacer Tabish Khan make his debut in Test cricket, against Zimbabwe in Harare, despite the odds stacked against the latter.
The 36-year-old, who became the 245th player to represent Pakistan in Test cricket, has vast experience of first-class cricket under his belt with 598 wickets in 137 matches.
The right-arm pacer picked a wicket in his first over, as well, by dismissing Zimbabwe opener Tarisai Musakanda.
“Quite a story from the Harare Sports Club. A fast bowler with 598 fc wickets but now 36 and, you would imagine, with diminishing chances of playing for his country, finally gets to make his test debut. And gets a wicket with his 6th ball!” tweeted Bhogle.
Zimbabwe were teetering on 52-4 at the close on the second day of the second Test after Pakistan declared their first innings on 510 for eight with Abid Ali scoring a maiden double century at the Harare Sports Club on Saturday.
The home team, one down in the two-Test series after losing by an innings and 116 runs last week, are still 458 runs behind with a mammoth task ahead if they are to avoid the follow-on.
