Rain washes out England vs Scotland T20 World Cup clash

Persistent rain in Barbados forced the abandonment of the second Group B match in the T20 World Cup between England and Scotland.

Scotland, after winning the toss and electing to bat first, managed to put up a score of 90/0 in their rain-reduced 10 overs. George Munsey (41) and Michael Jones (45) were the only Scottish batsmen to get a chance at the crease before the weather intervened again.

The match was initially halted for nearly two hours due to rain, forcing the implementation of the DLS method which set England a target of 109 runs in 10 overs. However, with the rain returning, the umpires were left with no choice but to call off the match altogether.

Both captains expressed their disappointment at the outcome. Scotland's Richie Berrington, hoping for a strong performance, highlighted the team's desire to progress further in the tournament.

"It does look on the drier side, but as we have seen on this trip so far, the wickets can change ground to ground, day to day. As a team, we want to progress as far as we can. Hopefully we can come out and make a few more special memories today," Richie said after the toss

England's Jos Buttler, who would have opted to bowl first anyway, confirmed Mark Wood's inclusion in the playing XI over Reece Topley.

"Everyone's really excited to get going. It was a 50-50 call [with Reece Topley and Mark Wood] but we have gone for the extra pace of Wood today," Buttler said.

With the match declared a no result, both teams will have to wait for their next fixtures to open their accounts in the T20 World Cup.
