Rohail Nazir, the Pakistani wicketkeeper-batter, has spoken about how he distinguishes himself in the highly competitive environment of Pakistani cricket.
Aware of the fierce rivalry within the team, Nazir emphasized his focus on self-improvement.
"Obviously, the Pakistan team consists of 11 players and there is a lot of competition. You know there is domestic cricket too, and the selectors look at that. This competition prepares you better. I don't look at the competition, I focus on myself. I have done many international tours, so I know very well what to do. I pay attention to fitness and all and keep myself ready for an opportunity,” Rohail said in an exclusive interview with Cricket Pakistan.
When asked about emerging wicketkeepers like Azam Khan, Haseebullah, and Mohammad Haris, and what makes him stand out, Nazir highlighted his exceptional temperament and consistent performance at various levels.
"I think my temperament is very good. I have performed at every level, so I believe I can play in all three formats. I believe in my fitness and work a lot on it. This is my belief,” he further stated.
Discussing his influences and aspirations, he mentioned the impact of his brother and modern-day cricket icons on his playing style.
"I think my brother, who is very famous in Pakistan for tape-ball cricket, influenced me a lot. I wanted to play like him. In modern-day cricket, I want to play and become like Babar Azam and Virat Kohli,” Rohail shared.
Looking ahead, he shared his future goals, expressing his desire to represent Pakistan in all formats and achieve significant milestones.
"I think my future goals are to represent Pakistan in all three formats. Not just represent, but in the right way. Before any wish, my preparations are good. My goals are to first get my Test cap, then play in the World Cup,” he concluded.
