'Sarfaraz suffers from unprecedented injustice'

Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Quetta Gladiators Owner Nadeem Omer has termed wicketkeeper-batsman Sarfaraz Ahmed’s removal as the Men in Green’s captain ‘grave injustice’.

While speaking in a video message, Omer expressed his shock over the decision.

“I was shocked to hear about Sarfaraz’s removal as captain from all formats. The world of cricket has never witnessed such injustice,” said Omer. “It is unfair to remove a captain who has won 11 series and has taken the team to number one position in T20Is.”

Omer believes that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should have supported Sarfaraz during difficult times.

“A leader is not born overnight. They need to be supported in tough times like South Africa backed Graeme Smith and England supported Alastair Cook,” he said. “How can PCB remove Sarfaraz on the basis of just one series defeat, after having invested in him as skipper since Under-19 World Cup.”

The Gladiators owner has asked for the reinstatement of Sarfaraz as T20I captain.

“Sarfaraz won the Champions Trophy and played a major role in winning the PSL title for Quetta Gladiators,” he said. “PCB needs to review their decision as Pakistan is going to suffer the consequences of removing a successful captain so close to the T20 World Cup.”
