Pakistan middle-order batter Saud Shakeel reached a significant milestone in his Test career during the first day of the opening Test against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi.

The 28-year-old became the joint-fastest Pakistani batter to reach 1000 runs in Test cricket, achieving this feat in just 20 innings.

This achievement places him on par with Saeed Ahmed, who also reached 1000 runs in his 20th Test inning during the Karachi Test against Australia in 1959.

The overall record for the fastest to 1000 Test runs is held by England's Herbert Sutcliffe, who achieved it in just 12 innings.

Shakeel came to the crease with Pakistan struggling at 16-3 after Babar Azam's dismissal for a duck.

He partnered with opener Saim Ayub to stabilize the innings, reaching the 1000-run landmark during their partnership.

The left-hander holds a highest Test score of 208*, with two centuries and six fifties to his name.
