Selection committee asks Abid Ali to resume domestic cricket duty

The national selection committee, headed by Inzamamul Haq has asked in-form batsman Abid Ali to report for the Quaid-e-Azam (QeA) Trophy final.

The decision is a surprising one as Ali — who is currently in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with Pakistan A — is in tremendous form with the bat and just recently scored a breathtaking 144 in a one-day game against England Lions.

In all, the Lahore-born right-hander scored over 800 runs with the help of three centuries in eight matches against England Lions, Australia A and New Zealand A.

The source said the decision was made on the request of Habib Bank Limited (HBL) — Ali’s departmental team.

Final of the QeA Trophy will be played between HBL and Sui Northern Gas (SNGPL) from December 4 in Karachi.
