Sethi urges UK PM to consider sending England team to Pakistan

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Najam Sethi has revealed that he has asked Britain’s Prime Minister Theresa May to consider sending the England team to tour Pakistan.

Sethi, who is in England to watch Pakistan’s two-Test series against the Three Lions, expressed those views in a meeting with May.

“I told [her] that Pakistan awaits a visit by the England team [and that] we need your help,” said Sethi as per CricTracker. “I reminded the British PM that Pakistan Army had done a great job in ending terrorism and made big sacrifices. As a result, the conditions at our home are better; hence, we are inviting foreigners to come and visit us. We have made Pakistan safe.”

Sethi has played an instrumental role in reviving international cricket in Pakistan as since the attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in 2009 in Lahore, no international cricket has been taking place in the country.

Following that attack, it took more than six years for an international team to visit the country which was Zimbabwe, who played three T20I and ODI series in Lahore in 2015.

After that successful tour, Sri Lanka, West Indies and World XI teams have also visited the country for T20I series.

Apart from that, PCB has also managed to host four Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches in the country, which included finals of the second and third editions as well.
