Shadab Khan's spectacular bowling display in vain as Sussex suffer defeat

Shadab Khan delivered an impressive display of bowling for the Sussex Sharks in their T20 Vitality Blast match against Essex on Thursday.

With Feroze Khushi providing stability at one end, Shadab played a vital role by consistently breaking through the Essex batting lineup.

Shadab's first breakthrough came when he removed Matt Critchley for just 9 runs. Critchley was caught by Tom Alsop, giving Sussex a much needed breakthrough. Demonstrating his skill and accuracy, Shadab struck again on the very next ball, dismissing Paul Walter for a duck. This impressive feat put Essex on the back foot and had the crowd on the edge of their seats, as Shadab was now on a hat-trick.

Although, he failed to complete his hat-trick and conceded a couple of boundaries in his third over, Shadab remained unfazed and determined. Making a strong comeback in his fourth over, he managed to dismiss Tom Westley for a mere 2 runs.

Finishing with figures of 3/28 in his allotted 4 overs, Shadab played a pivotal role in restricting Essex to a modest total of 163/7 in their 20 overs.

Despite his exceptional display with the ball, Shadab's fortunes took a downturn when he came out to bat. Unfortunately, he failed to deliver with the bat and was dismissed on his very first delivery of the match, falling victim to Simon Harmer's bowling.

Sussex kept losing wickets at regular intervals throughout their chase, ultimately getting bowled out for 138 and losing the game by 25 runs.
