Lahore Qalandars have announced left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi as their vice-captain for the upcoming sixth season of Pakistan Super League (PSL), due to begin from February 20 in Karachi.
Shaheen has been a key member of Qalandars since his induction in the third season of PSL.
Sameen Rana, the COO of Lahore Qalandars, said that appointment of Shaheen as vice-captain is part of Lahore’s strategy to develop youngsters into strong leaders.
“We have always believed in empowering youngsters, if you see our squad – the majority of Qalandars are youngsters who have emerged to this level from our own player development program. We believe that Shaheen has always been very important member of our squad and it is the time that we start building him as a leader,” said Sameen.

Aaqib Javed, LQ’s director of Cricket heaped praised on the left-arm pacer and appreciated his mindset towards the game.
“Shaheen Afridi is a world class cricketer with exceptional bowling skills, his commitment and dedication for the team is unmatched and he is keen to take the team to the next level” said Aqib.
Shaheen was grateful to the Lahore Qalandars management for entrusting him with the aforementioned responsibility.
