Shaheen Afridi eyes India's star batter

Shaheen Afridi, known for his towering presence on the field, emphasized the pivotal role of securing the wicket of Rohit Sharma in the World Cup match against India on Saturday in Ahmedabad.

In an interview with Star Sports on Saturday, Afridi expressed his recognition of Sharma's prolific run-scoring abilities for India, acknowledging the inherent danger he poses as a batsman.

“Rohit Sharma has scored a lot of runs for India and he can be very dangerous,” Shaheen said.

Afridi also highlighted the strategic importance of dismissing Rohit Sharma early in the game, underlining the potential impact on the rest of the Indian batting lineup.

“If you dismiss a team’s captain early, other batters come under pressure. So, my plan will be to dismiss Rohit quickly,” he added.

The match between Pakistan and India in the World Cup will be their eighth encounter. Rohit Sharma is determined to continue India's tradition of victory against Pakistan in the World Cup, while Azam is eager to make history as the first Pakistani captain to defeat India in the 50-over World Cup.
