Shaheen Afridi gives credits to his brother Riaz for early cricket success

Shaheen Shah Afridi has acknowledged his elder brother Riaz Afridi for assisting him in representing Pakistan.

The 22-year-old made these comments in a documentary about his rise as a cricketer. "I didn't struggle much," said Shaheen, who competed in the U19 Asia Cup after competing at the U16 level. "I got to play cricket too early, and the main reason for that was my brother Riaz," the young fast bowler said, referring to his brother, who played one Test for Pakistan against Sri Lanka in 2004.

The left-arm bowler said he never anticipated representing Pakistan early in his career.

"I never imagined myself representing Pakistan so early in my career. Throughout, my brother Riaz played a significant part. Before I got into mainstream cricket, he used to advise me on everything, "He revealed.

Riaz, who appeared in Shaheen's documentary, claimed his brother's talent propelled him to success. "I constantly advised him not to mention my name. He is successful because of his talent, and we are proud of him, "He stated.

Shaheen has returned to the team after recovering from a knee injury that kept him out of the team since July. Since his international debut against the West Indies in 2018, the left-arm pacer has played 25 Tests, 32 ODIs, and 40 T20Is for Pakistan.

A reminder is that Riaz Afridi debuted for Pakistan by playing just 1 test match against Sri Lanka on October 28, 2004 and took two wickets by giving away 87 runs.
