South Africa announce squad for Test series against West Indies

South Africa is set to embark on a journey to the West Indies for a two-match Test series as part of the ICC World Test Championship.

The team, however, will be without the services of all-rounder Marco Jansen, who has been rested for the upcoming series.

The 16-member squad includes a notable debutant in Matthew Breetzke, who earns his maiden Test call-up following a strong showing in South Africa's recent domestic four-day season, where he amassed 322 runs at an impressive average of 46. Breetzke also showcased his leadership skills by captaining South Africa A during their tour of India in December.

Also making a return to the squad is Ryan Rickelton, marking his comeback after missing out on the series against India and New Zealand since March 2023.

Squad: Temba Bavuma (captain), David Bedingham, Matthew Breetzke, Nandre Burger, Gerald Coetzee, Tony de Zorzi, Keshav Maharaj, Aiden Markram, Wiaan Mulder, Lungi Ngidi, Dane Paterson, Dane Piedt, Kagiso Rabada, Tristan Stubbs, Ryan Rickelton, Kyle Verreynne
