South Africa’s women’s cricket team clinched the T20I series against Pakistan with a convincing eight-wicket victory in the third and final match at Multan Cricket Stadium on Friday. Chasing a target of 154, the Proteas reached their goal comfortably within 20 overs.
After winning the toss, South Africa opted to bowl first. Pakistan’s opening pair, Muneeba Ali and Gull Feroza, gave a steady start. Muneeba scored 33 runs off 26 balls, hitting four boundaries, while Gull added 18 runs off 18 balls, including three fours.
Nida Dar came in after Gull’s dismissal but was sent back to the pavilion in the 12th over after scoring just 12 runs. Sidra Ameen was the top scorer for Pakistan with 37 runs off 40 balls, but she couldn’t reach a half-century, falling in the 18th over to Chloe Tryon. Captain Fatima Sana contributed 27 runs before being caught out. Aliya Riaz (8) and Tuba Hassan (6) added a few more runs, and Pakistan ended their innings at 153/5.
South Africa’s bowlers shared the wickets, with Chloe Tryon, Tumi Sekhukhune, Nonkululeko Mlaba, and Sune Luus each taking one.
In response, South Africa’s captain Laura Wolvaardt led the chase with 45 runs off 37 balls, including two boundaries and two sixes. Tazmin Brits was dismissed early, but Anneke Bosch kept the momentum going with a solid 46 runs before retiring hurt.
Annerie Dercksen played a match-winning knock, scoring 44 runs off just 23 balls, hitting six fours and two sixes. Sune Luus added 14 runs as South Africa sealed the victory in style.
