Reports indicate that Indian media may be suggesting South Africa as a potential host to undermine Pakistan's position as the original host of the tournament. However, sources have clarified that organizing the Champions Trophy in such a short time frame would be challenging for South Africa.

No discussions regarding a South African alternative have taken place within the ICC, according to sources. The situation in 2009, when the Champions Trophy was moved to South Africa due to security concerns, was notably different.
