The Pakistan cricket team has been under intense scrutiny following their dismal start in the T20 World Cup 2024. The team suffered a shocking defeat in their opening match against the United States of America, considered minnows in the cricketing world.
The disappointment continued as Pakistan lost their next match to arch-rivals India despite being in a strong position for most of the game.
The underwhelming performance has disheartened fans and stirred strong reactions from cricketing legends. One of the most notable reactions came from Wasim Akram, one of Pakistan's greatest players.
In an emotional outburst during a recent interview at a local sports platform, Akram expressed frustration and disappointment, declaring that he no longer wants to back the team.
"I can't bring that (killer) instinct in them. It has to come from within," Akram said before Pakistan's match against Canada.
"I don't care; enough is enough. I've backed them enough; now I don't care even if this goes viral," he added.
The former left-arm pacer continued to express his discontent, suggesting that internal discord is affecting the team's performance. Although he did not name specific players, he provided subtle hints about the ongoing issues.
"Somebody has to speak the truth about this Pakistan cricket team. It's kind of getting out of hand. Someone's mood is off, this guy is not talking to that guy. Come on, guys! What is this going on! you have played with the emotions of the entire nation, there is a limit to everything," he concluded.
