The Habib Bank Limited (HBL) Pakistan Super League (PSL) is about to begin with the defending champions Quetta Gladiators gearing up to defend their title.
Gladiators who won the fourth edition of PSL at the National Stadium of Karachi want to begin this edition on a winning note, when they lock horns with two-time champions Islamabad United after the opening ceremony on February 20, 2020, at the same venue.
The Australian leg-spinner, Fawad Ahmed, who was born in Sawabi and moved to Australia to play cricket has been one of the top players in the leagues around the world, has said that PSL is the most competitive league he has played.
“If I talk about the top leagues in the world, it would be PSL. The number of teams that is six is what makes this league so competitive. The conditions and the format of the game is so competitive which makes it the top league,” said Ahmed.
Meanwhile middle-order batsman, Umar Akmal, who has been in the news lately for his behavior with the coaches and trainers, said that he is currently focusing on PSL and will make his bat do the talking.
“Right now I am totally focusing on PSL. This is my current goal to make the best utilisation of the bat in this season, my bat will speak for my fitness level,” said Akmal. “I am working 70 per cent on my skills and 30 per cent on fitness, weather I score a ton or half on the goal is to make Quetta win.”
Talking about facing his brother Kamran Akmal, who plays for Peshawar Zalmi, said that they will both give their best for their teams.
“We are in different teams and both will play for their team there is no competition on a personal level,” he concluded.
