Virat Kohli reveals what sets matches against Pakistan apart

Virat Kohli is eagerly anticipating the upcoming showdown between India and Pakistan on September 2, set to take place in Kandy during the 2023 Asia Cup.

In a video shared by Asia Cup broadcaster on the social media platform X, Kohli is seen discussing what sets this match apart.

Acknowledging the distinctive ambiance surrounding the game, Kohli emphasized that the external atmosphere diverges significantly from that of other matches.

"I wouldn't run away from the fact that the atmosphere on the outside is very, very different from other games. It's what created on the outside that you can't really ignore. As a player when you step on to the field it's any other game for you. The environment on the outside can pull you in. That's for you to enjoy and get excited about. Then it's usual business," Kohli said.

Kohli's history against Pakistan in Asia Cup encounters adds an extra layer of intrigue to the forthcoming clash. Kohli scored his highest-ever ODI score (183) to date in an Asia Cup match against Pakistan in Mirpur, in 2012.

Having faced Pakistan in both ODIs and T20s, Kohli has amassed an impressive total of 1024 runs across 23 innings, showcasing an average of 60.23. His ability to maintain an impressive strike rate of 107.67 across both formats demonstrates his prowess and consistency against this formidable opponent.
