WAPDA down lackluster KRL to reach QeA One Day Cup final

Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) have defeated Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) by five wickets in the first semi-final of ongoing Quaid-e-Azam One Day Cup in Lahore.

WAPDA will face the winner of the second semi-final between Habib Bank Limited and Pakistan Television — scheduled to be played tomorrow — in the final of the event.  

On Thursday, WAPDA’s Captain Salman Butt won the toss and invited KRL to bat first. The decision proved fruitful as the entire KRL side was dismissed for 164 runs inside 44 overs. Mohammad Mohsin was the top run-scorer with 48 runs while Abdul Rehman Muzammil and Jaahid Ali scored 34 and 25 runs respectively.

For WAPDA, pacer Ehsan Adil was the pick of the bowlers with figures of three wickets for 29 runs.

Chasing a modest target of 165 runs, WAPDA got over the line in the 38th over of the innings with five wickets and 77 balls to spare.

Ayaz Tasawwar scored 50 runs while Zahid Mansoor remained unbeaten on 32 runs.

Sohaibullah and Sadaf Hussain claimed two wickets each for the losing side.
