Former Pakistan Head Coach Waqar Younis has lashed out at former PCB Chairman Najam Sethi over his remarks regarding former national cricketers.

Younis shared a video clip on social media website Twitter — about Sethi’s interview with a local news channel — and asked him to stay away from cricket affairs.

During the interview, Sethi had said that performance of Younis — during his tenure as head coach — was not satisfactory.  

“I was told not to bring Waqar Younis, but I did. However, his performance was not up to the mark. I’m not going to name the person who had asked me,” he said. “I don’t know why he criticised me. I bought him in the main frame but not the one who kicked him out.”

Sethi also claimed that former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Rashid Latif wanted to become head of corruption in PCB.

“I contacted Rashid Latif and told him to get on board to tackle corruption. I also offered him post of chief selector. He accepted the offer but also wanted to become head of corruption,” said Sethi. “But at that time, I was advised by a few senior cricket board officials that he has a soft stance for Danish Kaneria. So I asked him to become chairman of the selection committee but will consult him on corruption cases but he rejected my offer.”

He also shared comments on rift between cricket authorities of Karachi and Lahore: “Lobbies do exist in cricket. It is very unfortunate. If you look at the matters of Karachi and Lahore, there is a sort of professional jealousy.”

The former PCB chairman also criticised cricket committee chairman Mohsin Hasan Khan by stating: “Mohsin used to be bitter rival of Wasim Akram but he is now sitting by his side. I’m bringing this on record that when I became PCB chairman, Khan approached me and asked for the chairmanship of national selection committee although I was advised not to take this step. I think the cricket committee has people who are biased in their decision making.”
