Shahid Afridi, one of the most popular cricketers of this era, bid farewell to his career in the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) due to long-lasting back pain.

Quetta Gladiators' Afridi played his last HBL PSL game against Islamabad United on February 12 where he got two wickets for 27 runs in his four overs and ran Azam Khan out with a direct hit.

Afridi made his ODI debut against Kenya on 2nd October 1996 in which he bowled economically giving away just 32 runs in his 10 overs without picking up a wicket and did not get a chance to bat. 

In the following game against Sri Lanka, in his very first innings, he smashed the fastest century in the 50-over format, a record that stayed for 16 years.

Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram recently tweeted his first memory of Shahid Afridi saying that he saw him in the nets and was impressed with his bowling and hard-hitting skills. He further wished him luck for his future and praised Afridi for his various match-winning performances.

Many other players also tweeted for Boom Boom Afridi. Shoaib Akhter tweeted in a humorous way saying “ Araam Kero LALA is umar main ye ishq nahi asaan.” Take rest lala, it is hard to have love for the game at this age.

Shahid Afridi will be deeply missed by his fans and the entire cricketing fraternity. Out of his many big achievements some memorable ones will be two sixes off Ravichandran Ashwin in Asia Cup, cameo against Bangladesh in the following match, two back to back man of the match awards in the semi-final and final of the 2009 T20 World Cup and his 37 ball century in his career's first innings.
